vandalism & silence – kiew at the flora

We planned to continue the tradition of posting our show reviews here again weeks ago - but lots of stuff made that impossible until now. So now we are three show reviews behind (Hamburg, Dresden, Bucarest) (and lots of news to post) - time for an update - the first review can be found below!

The parties at the Rote Flora are legendary. Some time ago I had the joy of playing with 13th Monkey at the Allesfliessst december anniversary in the cellar of the Flora with lots of strobo flashes and fog - and now we were playing with KiEw on the big floor!
As Hauke our sound engineer was absent, Martin aka Dr.Debil had his debut at the sound controls (he also assisted in Wilhelmshaven recently). The soundcheck was perfect and not only the big PA but also the vibrations on stage made us excited about a loud and bass-driven show! Some beer (Astra!) later we went out to hunt something to eat which brought us to a nice vegetarian burger restaurant at the Schulterblatt. After eating far too much we went back to the Flora to enjoy the Brainstorm party. Inchinger and Ma-Cell started the party at the main floor with two nice dj sets, followed by the two live acts Tails and Mutterkorn which gave the audience (which came not in masses because of the Fusion Festival but was still in a fantastic heavy party mood) an excellent acid-like sound. Though the timetable was one hour behind (we should have started at 3 a.m. but it was nearly 4 a.m. when we began) it was time enough as the two projects that should have played after us had to cancel (AggrAcid poured coffee or something in his 303, Punisher also had a good reason which I have fogotten). So after our show it was planned to have another dj set instead. Planned.

We had compiled an up-tempo powerset especially for the Brainstorm. Besides 13 minutes of Mondstaub we played the so far unreleased dcdisk remix that the Industrial Strength-mastermind Lenny Dee from New York has made in cooperation with Dan Pysics for the first time. A really fantastic and shouting audience brought the mood and atmosphere to peak level so that I was looking forward to the final track of the regular set: Stille/Stimme (translated: "Silence/Voice") which is one of my favs at the moment. Stille/Stimme ended in a brachial final: after about 5 minutes of performance and right in the middle of performing the word "Stimme" in lots of different ways it hit us merciless: SILENCE...

...SILENCE. Sadly the power amplifier of the house made it no more and quitted it's job so that we were unable to go on. I continued the vocal performance without the microphone for some time (my voice (or what was left over of it) was very thankful for that the next day) while the audience in front of the stage also was still in best mood and answered me with "terror, terror"-shoutings and demanding more KiEw tracks! I would say it was a perfect KiEw show with a wild and unexpected final! The party was still on in the basement but continuing on the main floor was impossible after finding out that the power amplifier reached the end of its lifetime. Luckily only the set ended but not the party as the organizers had the fantastic idea of opening a substitute dancefloor in the kitchen of the Flora!
